Reg a problem with dvd burning

Hi,
i am using FE 11S. i tried to burn a dvd by using Click to DVD program.
when i click on the Create DVD button , i am getting the following error message:

cannot detect the drive or the power is off. check that the drive is connected to the computer and turned on.

i dont know why this is coming. any suggestions

Hi maheed and welcome to Club Vaio.

Have you selected the correct DVD writer in File>>Settings>>General?

Perhaps you should try another DVD burning program - something like Nero.

Maheed,

Have a look in Device Manager to see if your DVD/CD ROM drive is installed correctly. (Control Panel>>System>>Hardware>>Device Manager).

In Windows Explorer, does the drive letter (Usually F:\) appear?

Hi Blencogo,

Thanks for the information. i already did that and two days ago i upgraded the optical drive software from vaio-link site.

Last night i found that in the explorer it shows like DVD-RAM DRIVE(F:). I am thinking that it changed to take only dvd - disks.
i need to check it with a dvd - disk. until now i checked wih dvd + disks only.

If it works with dvd - disk how to get back my drive to work with both kinds of disks.

Any suggestions.
