Does anyone know if my PCG-K415B uses a standard size (2.5") laptop drive? I'm aware that some laptops use smaller drives (which are still 2.5" but are not 'standard' height)

I am almost certain that the K series has a standard 100 x 70 x 9.5mm hard drive but if you want to check this out download Everest Home Edition from here.

Then have a look under Storage > ATA. This will give you the physical dimensions of your present hard drive.

Hi Mr_Cynical,

Any modern ATA interfaced drive will fit your K415B. Some older drives may be 12mm thick but nowadays, they are all the standard 9.5mm.

Have a look at this review of SEVEN OF THE LATEST ATA LAPTOP HDDs - the Seagate Momentus 100GB 7200 and the Hitachi Travelstar 7K 100GB look pretty impressive! They should all fit your K415B.

Edit: Sorry Rich - SNAP! Got called away when typing this and didn't see your post.
