Doesn't recognize a DVD+RW

Hey everybody ,

I'm new at this , so I don't know if i'm doing it right ?
I'm trying to record a dvd+RW but my dvd recorder doesn't recognize this type of dvd (emtec dvd+rw) .
I have an VAIO notebook VGN-FS215B with a pioneer dvd recorder .(Pioneer DVD-rw DVR-K15)
Is it posible that my recorder only writes on dvd-rw ?

Welcome to ClubVAIO!

According to the Sony Specifications for your VGN-FS215B notebook, the DVD-R and DVD-RW formats are supported by your drive...

Here's the Sony Specification Sheet so you can have a gander at this...

I'm not entirely sure if the drive is at fault, so you may want to try another DVD disk first, then if that fails let us know and we'll try some other solutions for you.

just tackled a similar problem. My DVD- writer is apparently +/- compatible but only seems to recognise DVD-RW (sony)

Thanks for the quick reponse .
So if i'm reading the spec correctly both -RW & +RW are compatibel .
So , i'll try the dvd-RW first to see if that works .

You need software such as Roxio EasyCD creator 5 or later to write to a CDRW or DVDRW as the disc has to be formatted first though your drive should read previously written RW discs created on another pc.

This seem to work .
Is there a cheaper way to do this ?
I have installed the roxio easy media creator 7.5 trail version.
If I want to buy this software after 15 days then I have to pay almost 80 € .
