I have just installed a Brother DCP-340CW wireless printer/scanner/copier and can get my Sony Vaio VGN-FS415E to work perfectly well in WLAN peer to peer mode but then when I try to use my WLAN internet connection I find that I can not use the printer. Is there some way I can use both connections at the same time or am I asking too much.
This is my very first posting to the Forum so hello and thanks in anticipation to anyone who can help.
regards paag

Use the wizard to set up a new wireless connection for the internet on an infrastructure not ad hoc P2P. They likely work on different frequencies so using the same connection is not possible.
It amazes me that wireless at 2,4 ghz is ubiquitous. The same as Sky same as most wirelss connections. With more and more people crowding that frequency it will get to the point where we will have to go back to cable to get a decent connection.

many thanks for the speedy reply TonyBeard and I will give it a go after lunch..!
I agree with you comment about the airwaves, when I click on available wireless connections I could use at least two unprotected connection from my next door neighbours.!

Thanks - paag

Use the wizard to set up a new wireless connection for the internet on an infrastructure not ad hoc P2P. They likely work on different frequencies so using the same connection is not possible.
It amazes me that wireless at 2,4 ghz is ubiquitous. The same as Sky same as most wirelss connections. With more and more people crowding that frequency it will get to the point where we will have to go back to cable to get a decent connection.

I thought I would reply and let you know how I got on with the wireless set-up...... Well I tried the above and couldn't set up a new connection as the wizard stated that it was already set up so what I did was to re-install the software that came with the wireless modem and then re-installed the wireless printer/copier and everything works perfectly now.
I have got to say that the brother bit of kit is really quite good and the VAIO / Brother combination works well together.

And it is one less cable to trip over..!

Many thanks for help and inspiration to finally solve.

regards - PAAG
