HI I RECENTLY BECOME THE PROUD OWNER OF A SONY VAIO PCG FR415B + VERY HAPPY WITH IT ,EXCEPT FOR 1 PROBLEM,THE CDRW/DVD NO LONGER PLAYS DVDS,ITS A QSI CDRW/DVD SBW242U,IT WORKED FINE TILL BOUGHT A WEEK AGO,IT STILL READS CD'S BUT JUST SEEMS TO LOCK UP AFTER A DVD IS INSERTED WITH THE LED ON THE DRIVE STAYIN ON+MAKES A LOT OF CLICKING FROM THE DRIVE ALSO,UPDATED THE FIRMWARE ECT 2 NO AVAIL.I THINK THIS IS A HARDWARE PROBLEM+NEED SOME HELP AS TO WHERE I CAN PURCHASE A REPLACEMET + COST. I HAVE SCOURED THE NET AND HAVE JUST CONFUSED MY SELF ABOUT WHICH DRIVES ARE COMPATIBLE. I ALSO WANT TO KNOW HOW DIFFICULT OR EASY THESE ARE 2 REPLACE YOURSELF???? PLEASE HELP

Sorry, I don't know the answer to your problem. I had problems with the CDRom dirve on my last Sony laptop, but it's OK on my new one.

Very cheeckily tho, I was hoping you might be able to help me with a problem on mine (also a FR415B)... basically, I have only just started using this model (although I bought it two years ago), and have noticed the text/font appears blurry in bold in certain applications, e.g. Word and I Explorer... I am trying to find out if this is true on all models, and thus as good as it gets, or if there is something wrong with mine...
