Sounds that the Boot sector is destroyed. What you need is a Windows start CD or Floppy disk. If you have nothing of them, then is the only possibility a system recovery.:smileysad:

Yep it is the only way.

Glad to hear you are back up and running now VAIO-Fan, remember to back up your computer regularly, keep your virus scanner up-to-date, scan for spyware and stay on your guard.

Very often these viruses can defeat the anti-tamper locks used by anti-virus software so the virus can then shut down the anti-virus programs in RAM. It has happened to me!

Don't become a statistic!

Two of my friends have had this problem.
The first had to boot into linux and replaced his boot and kernel files.

The second had to return the hard drive to the manufacturer as the boot sector was corrupt beyond repair.

Quite often problems like this are caused by improperly switching of your PC as the laser slams against the side of the hard drive and the boot sectors become damaged.

Boot problems are a pain in the a$$ which is why I prefer using imaging software to restore the entire hard disk and partitions to its pre-disaster state.
