Updating host file and user permissions

Hi there,

I have been trying to update my host file on my Sony Vaio (VPCSE series) Windows 7.

When I try to save the file, I'm unable to save the file due to restricted permissions.

I have checked the security levels for the C drive and for Notepad (which is what I use to edit my host file) and still no joy.

I then tried to edit the permissions for the folder Windows > System32 > drivers> etc, I'm blocked from changing the permissions (see attached).

My guess is this is something that was set at factory install as it's recommended not to change the host file. However, I know how to change the host file (as I test websites as part of my job).

Any tips and advice would be great.
