DVD drive problem

Hello,

I would be very very grateful if someone could help me. I tried to use my DVD drive for the first time today and it cannot read any CD's or DVD's. Does anyone have any idea? I am desperate.

Hi stavchou and welcome.

What Vaio Model do you have? Are you using the original Operating System?

Please look in Device Manager -> DVD/CD-ROM Drives and tell us if there are any yellow ! Errors showing against the drive. If there are errors, please give us the error code.

I doubt if you will get much help unless you give more information.

Full Vaio Model

Operating System - is it the original OS?

How old is your Vaio? Is it still within warranty?

What software are you using to try to play DVDs and CDs?

What Region Code are the DVDs?

Does the DVD Drive appear in (My) Computer?

Have you spoken to Vaio Support?

Hi again,

I am sorry. The model is the VPCEH3N6C/W. I haven't spoken to Vaio Support yet. My laptop is six months old roughly but I hadn't used the dvd drive so far. I bought my laptop from the UK and the DVDs I try to read are from Greece,I think it is the same region though. The DVD drive appears in my computer and whenever I try to place a DVD or a CD it is making a noise like it is about to start but then it stops. I am not sure about the operating system as I am not very fond of computers.:smileyplain:
