Problems with new VAIO, black screen instead of videos?

I'm having problems with my new VAIO (or is it the windows 8 or norton security that's the problem?) When i first use the laptop videos on websites were playing fine but now if I go on youtube, vimeo or most embedded videos, I just get a black screen... any ideas???

I heard it might be an internet explore/windows 8 fault that could be remedied by using firefox, but my laptop won't even download firefox! It keeps getting to 99% downloaded and just staying there...?! So I'm starting to wonder if it's all something to do with over enthusiastic Norton security but really just guessing

I am not a computer person really, bit stuck! Please help :

i seem to be having this problem as well, i and also have norton anti-virus downloaded onto my laptop, has anyone replied to you...if so could you please tell me what it could be.

This sounds like a firewall problem. McAfee and Norton seem to conflict with each other.

Did you remove the preinstalled McAfee software completely using the McAfee Uninstaller Tool before installing Norton?

Try disabling Norton temporarily and see if this fixes it - if it does, you may need to remove McAfee completely or decide to uninstall Norton completely and rely on the free Security Essentials included with Windows 8.

Come back here for advice if you decide to uninstall - you will need to use the McAfee/Norton Uninstall Tool.
