Hi Keat,

Your FE41S should take any compatible 'Socket M' processor - so T7200, T7400 and T7600 should be fine with your 945PM chipset.

The only concern is the extra heat generated, so think carefully before fitting a T7600.

The Socket M models have been discontinued for some time and you may have to search around for one.

Hi,

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FE41S laptop and I have successful upgrade to Windows 10 Pro (32-bit).

I would like to know, can I upgrade the CPU to make my laptop a bit faster?

I did some reseach and compare my VGN-FE41S with VGN-FE41Z and I find out both of them are using the same motherboard and the smae video card. The only differents is the CPU.

The CPU from my VGN-FE41S is :
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile T5500 (1.66 GHz)
L2 Cache: 2 MB

The CPU from VGN-FE41Z is :
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile T7200 (2.00 GHz)
L2 Cache: 4 MB

I find out there is another CPU from the same type which is a bit more faster and that is :

Intel Core 2 Duo T7600 (Socket M) CPU
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile T7600 (2.33 GHz)
L2 Cache: 4 MB

I want to know, can I upgrade my CPU to the CPU from above, without having problems with my motherboard. Please help me.

Best Reagrds,

Keat.

Hi Blencog,

Thank you very much for your reply. I think in this case is better I upgrade to :

The CPU from VGN-FE41Z is :
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile T7200 (2.00 GHz)
L2 Cache: 4 MB

Since the VGN-FE41S almost the same as VGN-FE41Z. Do you agree with that?

Best Regards,

Keat.
