PCG-GRT815E noising fan

Hallo everybody!
I have a PCG-GRT815E and a problem with the fan.
It became every day noiser and noiser, up to know the speed is so fast that it will take off soon!!
Do someboby experience the same problem?

Hi

The fans have a habit of picking up a lot of dust. Try and give them a clean.

The noise is like a hiss.... any other idea?

ah.... and.... I do not have the "cpu control" in the power panel in order to put it as "silent"

Hi,

The GRT series is notorious for being noisy, this is due to the desktop CPU which it has.

Nothing much you can do, except keep it clean - I remember one guy here posted a picture of the mustache like build up which he had behind his fan on the back!

lol yes and if u had that feature, you'd be posting on this forum about your laptop overheating.. a notorious problem of sony vaios..

so enjoy the noise of your fan, its keeping your laptop alive

well you can always try use a earphone n listen to song while you working on your laptop.. that should reduce the fan noise hehhee :smileygrin:

I don't think any of you have been at all helpful.

Now let's get back to the point. Fans wasn't it?

Would they be like ABBA fans or Rolling Stones fans? I guess the Rolling Stones fans would make more noise but you can never underestimate the public's desire for a bit of ABBA.

Not me though.

I have recovered the c: with the recovery cd.... it seems to be better... but I do not trust it very much... I suppose it's just because there're less running task
I will let you know...

Ok , now, I told I will let you know...

well, I have recovered... twice!!
The first was ok for the fan but some "nice" features of xp sp2 were really really orrible working with photoshop 7. (no preview, system slow etc)
The second one (this actual one) is ok (no xp sp2 installed, just some hot fix) BUT .... the fan is still noisy!!! even if not as noisy as before....

I'm a little bit frustrated :smileyfrustrated:

Now: 2 solution:
1. buy another laptop (still vaio? mmmmmmmmmmmmh) since I have to work! (I'm a photographer)
2. try to open it and take a look (the warranty is expired)

AAAaaaaaah another thing : "burn your own DVD recovery..." ....HOW??

well if you go to start/all programs/vaio recovery tool/vaio recovery utilities.exe it will show you how... you will needed either 6-7 cd-r or 1-2 dvd-r good luck
