I bought this camcorder to video old family cine films and convert them to DVDs for younger family members who have not seen them. It is working well but I cannot get rid of the sound of the noisy film projector. I have set the Volume to its lowest setting and tried to blank off the microphone but nothing works. I feel Sony must have allowed for mute videoing but there does not appear to be any guidance on this. Does anyone know the answer? Whernsider

Hey Whernsider, this camera doesn't have a silent mode.

Thank you. I contacted Sony who told me I cannot record in silent mode. I now record with a piece of polystirene stuck in front of the microphone which helps to muffle to projector noise.
