black screen on my cybershot dsc t3

When I turn on my camera to take pictures the screen is black, its like this for videos as well. But I can view old photos so the screen does work.

Someone told me there was a free repair as sony recalled the camera because it was a known fault, does anyone know if this true please ?

I believe that the free repair that you are referring to has now expired:

Therefore, Sony are now advising users that they need to follow the regular repair instructions. There is a 'sticky' forum thread which tells you how to contact Sony to discuss the best option for your camera and that can be found here:
