Function not available message

Hi,
This is my first post.
I have a Sony A7 III camera which I'm very pleased with.
As I grow in confidence/ability I'm trying to use manual focus more and get a frequent message to the effect: "this function is not available message" due to being in manual focus mode. I'd really like to turn the notification off.
I'm genuinely not trying to invoke any function that I shouldn't - I've even turned off touchpad in case it's my nose on the LCD screen that it thinks is trying to launch something.
I've actually missed shots because I need to dismiss the message before proceeding.
Can anyone advise how I turn it off please? I'm hoping that there's a simple answer that I've overlooked.
I've checked the forum and other Sony resources and can't find an answer.
