Underwater macro options on NEX-7

I'm looking for 100mm macro-lens options on the NEX7. 30mm is a bit too close-focussing for use underwater, at least for me.
Any rumors of 100mm macro Sony E-mount, similar to Fuji Xpro1, Panasonic and OlympusD lens options ?

Sorry for the English, but the site will only let me post here since I'm working in Switzerland.

You may wish to consider purchasing the A-Mount equivalent, the SAL100M28 lens:

In order to use this with your NEX camera, you will also need an adapter:

Because of the costs involved, it may be wise to wait and see if an E-Mount version of the lens is released in the future. You could also investigate adapters that make other manufacturers' lenses 'E-Mount' compatible. Bear in mind that the links I have provided are the official Sony Store links - the same lenses and adapters may be available elsewhere within Switzerland at a more competitive price.

Someone also told me about the E-Mount version. A friend of mine said that it would be better to wait for it. Just thinking when will it going to be. It might take a year.

In terms of cost and simplicity you are probably right!

All I can suggest is keeping an eye on the official Sony site and the major photography news pages as they have a habit of getting a 'sniff' of these things before everyone else does

100mm ist schon extrem lang für Unterwasser, du brauchst einen Adapter wie schon beschrieben, dann hast du einen Crop von 1,5 und nochmal, durch das Wasser ca. 1,3. Damit haste eine Menge wasser zwischen Linse und Motiv. Welches Gehäuse nutzt du denn, weil ein entsprechender Dom wird ja auch extrem teuer bei der langen Brennweite?

100mm is already extremely long for water, you need an adapter as described already, then you have a crop of 1.5 and again, through the water about 1.3. So a lot of hurry water between the lens and subject. What do you use for housing, because a corresponding dome is indeed extremely expensive in the long focal length?

It would be good to hear back from the original poster, but I thought I'd point out that the main advantage of a long focal length for macro is that they allow you to move a little further away from very small subjects which would otherwise be difficult to light. They also defocus the background better than shorter focal lengths.

For underwater macro there is generally no problem with the amount of water over a long distance, as the distance between the lens and the subject is usually no more than several centimetres.

I have the Nauticam housing with the semi-dome port for the 18-55 kit lens, but this lens is not so helpful or high quality for macro.

As Mick2011 pointed out, the main advantage of a 60 - 100mm macro with APS-C is to move further from the subject. Lighting in these situations underwater is nearly always provided by flash, so the 30-100cm of water between camera and subject is not a problem.

With DX and FX underwater, 60 or 100mm macro lenses are the standard. 30mm is possible but not ideal.

Ambos 68 - it's true that an adapter is needed for now and that makes it inconvenient and expensive. Nauticam told me that they are making a port to fit the Nex-7 housing with the LA-EA1 adapter and A=mount 100mm macro. But that's a very expensive lens for its performance. I'm hoping an E-mount option becomes available
