Noise cancelling on wf-1000xm3 ineffective

Just bought myself a pair of the above earbuds and was expecting big things after reading lots of reviews.
firstly the sound is excellent I have to say, but, and it’s a big but, the NC is totally ineffective from what I can hear.
I have a pair of Bose qc20i and absolutely love them and the noise cancelling on them has worked brilliantly. I wanted the freedom of wire free so went for the Sony, and I honestly can’t tell if the NC is actually on or not when turning it in and off.
can someone tell me that theirs are working really well and mine are faulty as it’s driving me mad here.

I was also surprised I will say - the passive noise cancel is quite good and the active only adds a bit more.

I have exactly the same issue. Really unimpressed by the NC.

The sound quality is fantastic however the noise cancelling is non-existent, there seems to be almost no difference between when it's switched on or off. Going by what other people have been saying this is a surprise. I've made sure it's switched on correctly and understand that it'll only work with low frequencies and not high but I'm beginning to wonder if there's something up with my pair. I had a pair of Echo buds for a month and although the Sony ones have better sound quality, the echo buds noise reduction was hugely better. Thinking about returning them tbh.

Did you ever find out if this was an issue with your particular pair?

I’m glad it’s not just me then.
I put a post on twitter and got a reply to reset etc which I’ve tried lots of times already !

Anyone from Sony care to comment on what I can do ?
I am from the UK, bought the set in Spain, it now living in Austria so not as easy as returning to the store !
