HI,

My problem is with system messages on the left earpiece. Is there any way to have system messages on the RH earpiece or better still in stereo. (I have a reduced HF hearing disability LH side).

There does not appear to be a function to change this, or any form of L/R balance control in the Sony app. Nor have I found any balance control on my phone (Moto g7 play) or any of the apps I use.

Any enlightenment will be greatly appreciated.

Edit I tried swapping the earbuds today l-r &r-l and the LH bud has definitely lower volume than the RH.

plus is it only possible to have the LH as a single bud not the RH?

Hi BK2019,

It's possible to use either of the ear buds on its own, but when Google assistant is active only. You can find more information in the Help Guide here: https://helpguide.sony.net/mdr/wf1000xm3/v1/en/contents/TP0002395214.html

I don't think it's possible to customize from which side the system messages will be heard if you're using both sides at the same time.

Win_88

Thanks Win-88,

I had read somewhere else before purchase, in the sales or tech info, that you could use either bud separately. (LH only is no use to me). No mention anywhere that you must use google assistant to do so. Nor is there on the page you linked.
(I have no wish to use google assistant - too many permissions to do so!). I realise you have to use it to access all the bud functions with only one in ear.

Maybe it's an Android (V.9) glitch but since the latest firmware update I am getting intermittent times when I can use either bud separately, sometimes neither. I have rebooted the phone, deleted and reinstalled the Sony headphone app and reset and re-paired the Bluetooth.

I will continue experimenting.
