wf-1000xm3 with google assistant issue

I can change music with google assistant through the headphones when the phone is unlocked but when I try to do the same with the phone locked it doesn't work. It listens to the command and says "sure ill ask Apple Music to play xxxxx" but then continues doing what it was doing.

Any idea how to get this working?

Hi Samw1se,

I believe this is related to the permissions allowed on your phone. I'd recommend getting in touch with the manufacturer of your phone.

Phone is samsung s9 plus, I have looked at some permissions and all set as tho it should work. I'll have another looksie and try asking in Samsung forum thanks for your reply

Hi Samw1se,

I'm not quite sure about this but as far as I am aware, Google assistant is unable to unlock your phone if your phone is running Android 8.0 or higher. I found this link on Google's forum https://support.google.com/assistant/answer/7394306?co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid&hl=en

However, it's preferable to get in touch with Samsung to check this.
