NWZ ZX1 Updates database on start up

My new NWZ ZX1 insists on updating the database every time I switch the unit on and select the music player. As I have 70gb of music on it, it takes about 5 minutes before I can play music. It does the same if I select the video player, and I don't even have any videos loaded! I've been in touch with Sony support and they say there is no way round it, which I find incredible on a device of this quality and price. I am using the internal memory on the device with no SD card. Any suggestions as it's very frustrating.

Unfortunately if Support have advised that there isn't a workaround, then thats usually the case.

Hopefully if anyone knows otherwise they'll post here for you

It's how it's designed. You can't avoid it once it's turnned off. That's the way the system check if you have added new media or not?

Best thing is to leave the walkman on standby with flight mode on so battey is not draining much.
