Sony Xperia 1 ii Bluetooth issues

Just received the new Sony phone and having issues with Bluetooth connecting to my Garmin edge 530. Will not connect. Works with my Garmin watch fine. Also Bluetooth connects to my car ok and can answer calls fine but will not play back music. Comes up in the car saying no media available, any ideas. Been playing about with developer options trying to tweak things but no luck

Have you installed the Garmin Connect App?

If not the Edge 530 app manual says :

"To use the connected features of the Edge^® device, it must be paired directly through the Garmin Connect™ app, instead of from the Bluetooth^® settings on your smartphone"
