Text message problems

Hi everyone, I seem to be having problems receiving text messages. Sometimes they come through ok and I get a notification, sometimes they come through but my phone doesn't tell me. Other times I'm just not receiving texts when I know people have sent me one. I've done a full factory reset but still having issues. Help please!!!

Do you experience the same issue if you use another SIM card in your phone, or your SIM in another phone?

I have used my SIM in other phones without any issue but I haven't tried any other SIM in my phone.

If you can test another SIM in your phone too that would be really helpful.

Also, see if it does the same thing in safe mode.

Tried a new sim, still the same problems. Going to send the phone back. Just not good enough from Sony.

You can try running a software repair using Xperia Companion as a last resort. Sorry you are having issues with this. Good luck!

i am having some messaging problems as well, some other threds on the problem. but they seem to have been ignored by sony support for some reason... maybe becasue they cant figure it out so they are saying "screw them, they already bought the phone.. MWAHAHAHAH".... right?
my app just crashes.. doesnt work at all.. makes my whole phone crash requiring a full reset.. ive tried everything, and im down to having to use 3rd party app.

but thats not even it, the phone overheats like crazy. for no reason! and when it overheats it slows the phone to a crawl, if it wants to work at all! i havent even finished paying off the phone and its already the biggest pile of garbage ive ever spen 500$ on!

Yeah exact same issue since the latest update.

I can only write messages if i create a new messages. If i click on any previous messages the entire phone freezes and the app crashes but the Sony diagnostics tool doesn't pick up that anything's gone wrong.

I've already wiped the phone, i've already used the sony companion repair tool useless thing that wiped my phone because the backup and repair failed.

I'm furious, there's countless forum posts about this.

You are experiencing the exact same issue as me. This is the first Sony phone I have ever used, and was chalking it up to Idiot Operator Error (IOE). After countless attempts of restarting the phone and running diagnostic I decided to research if anyone else shares in my misfortune and sadly I am discovering I'm not alone. I too have been able to send a text if I don't try to open existing conversation and go about a new thread/conversation. This even is happening immediately after I have sent a message out and waiting for response. It first started four or five days ago only happening once or twice and now it is multiple times a day.

Have same problem and Sony support are blaming latest software update with Google crome they have no fix date and cannot help except suggest using a different sms message app which I said I should not have to do

I have the same problem - the text message app freezes if I try to respond to a message. I can work around it by always starting a new message, but it's not impressive...

I have an Xperia XZ model F8331, running Android version 7.1.1, software version 41.2.A.7.53.

Hi, sounds like the same issue's I'm having. I have tried everything Sony has recommended, using the software repair through the laptop, still have the same issues. I'm waiting for the latest reply as to what to do know but it has been over a week so don't hold out much hope. Looks like I'll have to go down the legal route as they don't seem to want to help.

Good luck? Is that what it comes down to with Sony, luck? I have done everything Sony has suggested and I'm still unable to use my phone properly. Obviously it's not a one off with these phones as others are experiencing the same issues.

I have the same XZ model F8331 and experiencing same text message problems. Surely it shouldn't be up to the customer to resolve this matter by using another message app!
