XZ Premium unlocks in my pocket when I don't want it to

Have been using the xzp for one or two months. Loving it so far but there is one fatal flaw. The phone has been unlocking in my pocket and messing up settings, sending random messages and worse, attachment, to people. After initial web search, found smart lock and checked, but it's not enabled on my phone.

If I can't find a fix for this I'll have to change phones.

This is the biggest argument against "Double Tap to unlock" which drive me mad in the Z5 Premium for these exact reasons.

Check your lock screen settings

Make sure you have selected one of the options here ( I. E. Pin) and not 'none' at the top

I can't see the picture in your post, but I can see it now in the 'replying to:' section. Any idea why?

I have been using pattern and fingerprint unlock since day one.

I'll change to PIN to try.

that shouldn't happen with fingerprint + pattern lock. check in Settings > Lock screen & security > Smart Lock if any of the settings are enabled. Smart Lock disables lockscreen protection based on certain conditions (like a trusted location, or connected Bluetooth device), so perhaps that's what happening and the temporary lack of lockscreen protection causes your phone to unlock in your pocket.

Changed settings to fingerprint + PIN. Unlocked twice today in pocket.

I usually hold it in my hand, unless I need both hands.

Checked smart lock settings a few times already just to make sure nothing is enabled. All off, except 'Ok Google' while driving was enabled. Just disabled it.

Maybe it's a faulty handset?

you could try performing software repair with Xperia Companion, just make sure to make backup of important data before doing that as it wipes the phone. perhaps that will fix the issue.
