Text messages and Bluetooth

Every time I try to send a text message I have to create a new one. I can't just hit reply as the screen wouldn't respond. It would take several attempts off restarting the device for my screen to unfreeze. As for my Bluetooth I can't share or receive anything via Bluetooth. Both issues started after updates. Can someone please help me.

Yeah exact same issue since the latest update.

I can only write messages if i create a new messages. If i click on any previous messages the entire phone freezes and the app crashes but the Sony diagnostics tool doesn't pick up that anything's gone wrong.

I've already wiped the phone, i've already used the sony companion repair tool useless thing that wiped my phone because the backup and repair failed.

I'm furious, there's countless forum posts about this.

I'm having exactly the same issue. If I reply to a message from the drop down bar then it's fine, but I can't open a conversation & send a message. Seems to be since the last update.

The keyboard works absolutely perfectly in all other apps, so nothing to do with SwiftKey. It just freezes virtually instantly. No one had any joy getting this sorted?

from what I can see, many users across this forum experience the issue on various models. according to this comment it's related to Chrome, and a Chrome update is supposed to fix it in the future. you can either uninstall Chrome updates and revert to the version that was preinstalled with the device, or temporarily switch to another SMS app until a Chrome update fixes the issue. Pulse SMS (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=xyz.klinker.messenger) is a solid, free SMS app with no ads so you could try that one.
