It's a major and common issue, which everyone is facing. There are a lots of conversation regarding these issues. Sonys best Smartphone Xperia XZ Sounds getting muted. The problem is temporary solved, after restarting the phone. Many users complaining about the topic several times. But its a shame for Brand like Sony not to give any bug fixing update or help to resolve the problem. What is the value of that expensive phone if it is not ringing at time of call. I am a true fan of sony. If the customer support of sony is as bad as it seems. how come people will buy sonys phone.

I have a XZ with age 3 weeks. After updating to nougat the problem started. The problem is only for notification sound and Ringtone sound. All the other sound like Music player, Ear speaker sound of whatsapp, messenger and call are ok.The problem can be solved temporary by restarting the phone. But after some hours later the same problem appears again. please help me to resolve the issue.

Can you boot into safe mode (hold power button, then hold power off until restart in safe mode appears) and turn it all up, then check after a few hours use

yup it is. please be informed that I have already run pc companion to resolve the said issue. Everything remains same. nothing has changed.

Hey @waliurrahman,

I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble with phone. Do you use any type of case/cover for your phone? Are you still experiencing this if you temporarily remove the case/cover? In case the case/cover is pressing on the volume buttons causing your phone behaving this way.

I also would recommend that you try to reboot your phone to safe mode, that way we can rule out that this is caused by any of your downloaded apps.

I am not using any cover or case for my XZ. I will run the safe mode test.Afte doing that will inform you about the update.

I have tested the xz with safe mode. There is no sound muted issues appeared. it seems that the problem is causes by third party downloaded app. But the question is how can I find out the specific app from all the installed third party apps? I read several article about this sound problem issue. I think its a bug of nougat 7.0. A bug fixing update is required to resolve this. Glad to hear it's working in safe mode!

To start with, I would recommend that you make sure all your third party apps are updated. You can check this if you go to: Play Store > 3 lines > My apps & games. If this was caused by an app not being fully compatible, it's possible that it was sorted out in a later update.

If all the apps are up to date and the phone is still showing the same behavior, there is nothing left to do but to uninstall your downloaded apps until you find the one/ones that are causing your phone to behave this way.

I have found the apps which created this problem. This is not a third party apps, its sonys built in app Message. Its muted the audio when continuously sms notification sound appears. After sounding for one or two text its muted the audio. I have disable the message notification. Everything is ok so far.

It happens many times that my phone becomes silent without I put in silent mode any one text me or call me I can't hear Ring tone
But music can be heard from speaker but no ringtone until I restart my phone
Any suggestions

Safe mode will hide many applications like watsup. Facebook messager. Imo
Even Sony clock
We need real solutions from Sony
I owned Xperia ZL. Xperia Z2
But I did not face this problem only since three months I buy Xperia xz and suffering from this sound mute problem every time need to restart my phone
Please need real solutions
