M2 microphone recording not working

Literally have no idea what else to do to try and sort out what's wrong with my phone's microphone. Doesn't work during calls and doesn't pick up any intended sound when voice recording, only playback is noise/muffled crackling. Not sure what steps to take.

I am sorry to hear that.

Could you try rebooting your device to safe mode and then try to see if the same occurs? Aside from that, I would suggest a software repair using Xperia Companion in case it behaves the same way in safe mode.

If a software repair does not resolve it, then it's likely hardware related and in that case I recommend that you contact your Local support in order to have your device sent in to service.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll have a look into these and see if they work. If not, I suppose there's no hardship in just getting some more new earphones with a handsfree mic accessory.
