topic Z1 Compact battery in XPERIA archive

A couple of months ago I bought a Z1 compact used, but the previous owner had killed the battery (maybe charging while using) And after it was turning off at 35%, I bought a new one online.

I have installed the new battery and attempted to charge it to no avail. The charging light blinks rather than stays solid (Which it also does without any battery in it..) I tried turning the phone on, which also didn't work.

To make sure I didn't damage the phone, I swapped back to the original phone battery and could successfully boot and charge.

I don't want to say the battery is faulty, But it appears to be that way. Any tips for a fix? I would much rather fix it than return the item, I don't really have the money to send it to repair shops, the warranty is void for sure.

Is this common for a new battery to have problems, Or did I get extremely unlucky and this brand new battery is dead?
