topic Horrible Experience in XPERIA archive

Got the z5, and I am sad to say it was a bust. I did a lot of research before purchasing this phone. When I could not use Xperia Companion to transfer info from iPhone to new Xperia (as this was advertised on the Sony Mobile website), I contacted Xperia support. I was advised the program does not work for the Z5 phones at this point and I must purchase a transfer cable. After purchasing a transfer cable (and waiting 3 more days for it to arrive) the transfer was still NOT fluid, accurate/complete. Xperia did not recognizing the SD card (which I purchased directly from my sony rewards account), contact dates did not sync to calendar, and photos were quadrupled on Xperia devise. Notes from my iphone did not transfer and a minute number of my IOS apps actually transferred. Many of my paid apps from my iPhone did NOT transfer to the new Xperia (the website indicates ALL info transfers, from phone to phone). I contacted customer support and they were no help. I was advised to reset and repair software, which I did, still no luck. SD card would not accept my back up contacts from my macbook. Nothing worked well, easily and Sony Support was not helpful, nor was the internet. Sadly, it appears as though the transfer/switch from IOS to Droid is NOT easy. It looked like a great phone and I was excited to switch from IOS to droid/google.

Hi @KPerfect,

Welcome to the community.

I am sorry to hear about your experience. There's a few things I would like to note.

iOS and Android are entirely different operating systems. The fact that any of your apps transferred is surprising me a bit as they should not be able to. The paid apps will definitely not transfer as the 2 systems have separate stores. Nothing you have purchased on your iPhone, from apps, music, videos etc will be able to be transferred. Unfortunately, as the systems are so different it is not always possible to transfer every piece of data from one to the other.

For your notes, I believe you can sync them to your Gmail account on your iPhone and retrieve them using Google Keep. A similar thing can be done with your contacts, calendar etc.

For your SD card issue, did you format the SD card? This is done in Settings > Storage > Erase SD. Or, if you are on Marshmallow, Settings > Storage > SD Card > 3 dots on the top right > Settings > Format.

Forget the notes migration from iOS Notes (via Google) to android's Google Keep because Google itself doesn't support it. It's better to install Keep on iPhone then cut and paste.
