I received my z5 today and have set it up but it keeps going blank and the light flashes red and then it restarts, has anyone else had this issue or is the phone faulty? Thanks

what if you repair the phone with PCC

Hi @Katm

Please, connect your device to a wall charger and then press and hold power & volume up for more than 10 seconds. Let it charge for 2 to 3 hours, even if it doesn't seem to be charging. If that doesn't work, contact your local Xperia Care Local support. I´m at disposal for any question.

Thanks for your advice both of you, unfortunately i dont have a computer to connect it to at the moment as it has issues of its own (not having much luck at the moment haha) i have just done as you said xavinux and will leave it for a few hours

I have a z5 compact and it has restarted 3 times the last couple of days. No real reason why. Last time it happened when the phone was just idling on my desk.

Mine is pretty much constantly restarting it took me 3 attempts just to set the phone up 😞

I thought it was the fingerprint reader but 10 mins after i disabled it it started doing it again

I have the same issue with my Z5 Compact, purchased on 26th September.

The phone switches off, the LED flashes 3 times and then it restarts, sometimes a number of times in a row. I've tried the soft reset.

This morning it switched off and wouldn't switch back on so I took it to the 02 shop (purchased from 02), who told me that because it was more than 30 days from the purchase date (it was 33 days) they wouldnt replace it, but could send it away for a week, during which time i could use their old hire Nokias.

Awesome, brand new phone and i'll have to be without it for a week and hope that they fix whatever is wrong with it.

When it works its great, although it won't connect to my cars bluetooth (the iPhone 6 does), and it clearly has some pretty serious hardware issues - not good enough for a premium handset.

I am experiencing this issue after the latest update....
Phone restarts exactly as you guys say with 3 red flashes... This phone makes me really angry more and more with the left blur issue as well... How to repair this restart issue??

Same issue after update... My Z5 is brand new has only 10 minutes of use and Companion didn't solve the problem. I hope I'll be happy of the Xperia Care service.

I have the same issue with my Z5 Copact. It£s crashing in a very random way, mostly just by laying on the desk. Screen activates and the phone reboots. There is no real pattern to reproduce this problem. Just let the phone sleep on your desk. This is really annoying. I hope Sony can give some feedback on that issue.

I have the exact same problem with my Z5 Compact. I've seen it crash (reboot) several times just laying on the desk in front of me.

I live in Sweden and bought my phone from the UK (Clove).

Is there a log we can look at to get a hint of what's causing the crash/reboot?

Same here, Z5 compact one month old. Sometimes it restarts with the red led without being doing anything.

Yesterday it decided not to read the SIM, had to format.

This needs a fix soon, it's a 600 euros phone

Even to me Z5 continues to crash and reboot continuously and does not read the sim. Bought a little over a month ago ...

Anche a me lo Z5 continua a bloccarsi e riavviare in modo continuo e non legge la sim. Comprato poco piu' di un mese fa ...

I solved by restoring the factory setting, it was probably a virus ...

Same problem here with my z5. The factory reset does not solve it. Is there a fix for this?

Hi,

are there any updates on this? I contacted sony support but the only told me I should enable safe mode and test it 24 hrs. The Problem is, that the freeze appears randomly and sometimes two days all is good and then it comes back.

Hi again,

just wanted to give you an update: my Z5 is running without any crashing since two weeks.

This is all I did so far:

Power button+vol up - no help

Repaired the OS with companion - no help.

Then I mailed the service and they told me to run the phone in safe mode. In safe mode it did not crash for 4-5 days straight. After going back to normal mode, it crashed again. The support said that could mean that some third party app causes the crash. They also asked me to test the phone it without the SIM card and without SD card. So I deleted as much apps as I could (except Whatsapp and Spotify) and also removed the SD card and had no crash for one week (SIM card was plugged in all time). Then I formatted the SD card in FAT32 with my PC, put it in the phone and deleted and formatted the card with the phone one more time. Then I copied all the images and videos and stuff from the backup I made from the SD. I also reinstalled some more apps I have usually installed. Today it is another week without crashing.

So either the SD card was damaged and caused the crash or it was an app I did not reinstall yet (only some other apps left I did not reinstall yet). I will try to install all the apps I had when the crash came up and see if it crashes again but this will take some time, as I only can install one app and wait a couple of days to see if it has an impact.

So if you still have this issue, you might want to format your SD card and uninstall as much as third party apps you don't necessarily need and see how it works.

I will give you an update if I the issue comes up again with a certain app.
