I have a friend with a Z1 which is actually my old phone that I sold it to him.. Tones on his device are high.. Actually I cannot judge if mine is at faulty, but the notification volume been a problem with Z2 since it is first launched and I have seen, heard and read that from almost 80% of the users and with the new update I still insist it is still a problem.. Maybe u are satisfied with this volume level, but compared to other Android devices it is very low.. And to my day to day needs, I don't really hear it and I won't know if I have a msg unless I look and see the led light. However, the volume scale is 7 and not 4..
Sony ppl, we need a solution, I am thinking to sell my phone due to the lots of problems it brings and my most important thing is to hear my **bleep** phone when I have a msg or a call!!!!!!

What settings do you have active and how far up the 'sliding scale' are they......also what do you have selected as your tones for texts/emails/calls etc

Nothing of the settings are active, I don't like to turn any on since they will impact the sound of some games and music I lsn to..
If you mean by the 'sliding scale' the equalizer, it is all off.. Volume is all set to the max.
I selected different tones for texts, emails, whatsapp, and calls.. What I hear is the call tone, but when things are noisy around, I don't hear it at all, while I hear my siblings and friends tones on Samsung, HTC, iPhone and even blackberry.. I liked Z1 more than Z2 in tone volume

What i mean is......Settings - Call Settings.......what your Ringtone is and do you have Vibrate when ringing ticked along with Increasing ringtone....by 'sliding scale' i mean how loud you have the ringtone set by using the side rocker volume switch.

With regards to texts etc....when you press the messaging app then the 3 dots top right and go into settings to configure tone etc

Email settings depends on what app you use.....for instance i use Yahoo and all the settings for my email are obtained in the Mail Settings onthe app...

Call settings, I selected a ringtone, I selected the vibrate choice and I it is not set to increase while ringing.

As I mentioned, sliding scale "volume" set to the max the device could get.

Messaging settings, already done from settings, sound and selected the tone.

Email, I use Gmail and I set the same tone as for messaging..

My problem is not hear, the problem that volume is low and I don't hear the notifications.

Well it seems as if you have everything set out correctly......my volume for email/ringtone/texts is only set around the 3/4 mark and they are loud enough and i have no problem hearing them......and i live in a big house.....do you have a friend with a Z2 that would allow you to replicate exactly the settings for everything that you have on theirs, that way you can see if there is a difference and that way you can determine if your Z2 is indeed faulty:smileysmileywink:

It seems u have a device that's made only for u.. Check ppl complaints about the Z2.. Please don't ruin this for me, I want Sony to hear this.. I don't believe that Sony had a volume that ever close to Samsung or iPhone.. I always had Sony and Sony Ericsson, they are always lower in volume.. But Z2 is a disaster compared to these..
True, I am frustrated cause I have paid almost 1000 US dollars (device price in my country) and I didn't get the noise cancelling headset along with the package but only a 2 dollar cheap ones, and I have many problems with the device:
Notification volume
4k record for only 2 mind
Overheating problem
Battery drains so fast, won't stay more than 3 quarter of a day
Poor voice quality
Can't get updates from the update service
I feel I have put my money on waste and u came to help but u actually didn't.. I am so unhappy and I feel I have been bankrupt.
I see other devices and it kills me that they are just fine and better than mine.. What I really need is a phone a can hear it when I need it..
Come on I paid a lot for this, show us some favor back!!!!

It is obvious that you bought a lemon if you have so many problems with your phone. I don't have any defects that are you stated. If I would be in your place I would return my device to my retailer or Sony representative in my country and damanded the new device. I am sure the device will be exchanged with so many flaws.

I am sure it is a software issue..
Volume is pretty high with songs, and when u go to settings > sounds to choose a notification and u play it, it is also high.. But when u set the notification sound it is just very low and u barely hear it.. They said it is solved on the new 314 update, but I can see it the same.. In contrary with the new update, I stopped getting updates in Sony apps, battery is draining faster, 4k recording stops in few minutes due to overheating problem.. What bothers me the most that I can't hear my phone unless it is very quite and next to me.. But when I compare it to other Android devices, they are much louder.. For an example, whatsapp default notifications.. I don't hear them while I am using it unless I focus, but for my sisters iPhone, I hear them from next room and she even got surprised thinking her phone is not that loud.. Volume on my Z2 is set to max but on her iPhone it was not and it is still much louder
