Xperia link uses Bluetooth or Wifi?

I am a bit confused as everywhere I read that the Xperia link between the Z2 phone and Z2 tablet uses Bluetooth, but whenever I start a connection it switches on the phone wifi and I can see in the tablet wifi settings that tt has made a wifi connection.

How can I make a bluetooth only connection?

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

I tested this here but for me they connect with bluetooth and not WiFi.
Have you downloaded the latest version of Xperia Link and have you updated the firmware in both the phone and tablet?

Hi Richard

Yes, the latest Xperia link from the play store on both devices. When I set up a connection it says it is connecting via Bluetooth but when I head over to wifi settings I find that my tablet has switched from the normal wifi connection to using the z2 phone as a wifi access point. Perhaps Bluetooth is only used to set up the connection?
