Screeb activates itself when I am calling

When I am calling a person or when I am being called by someone my screen activates itself. This way my cheek constantly activates the pause or mute button which disturbs my calls. Is there a way to stop this through my phone settings?

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

When you hold the phone to your ear during a call it should automatically turn off the display so that you don't press the screen by accident. If you tilt the phone to much so that the display is facing the ceiling it will however turn on the display as it thinks you want to use it for something during the call. If you press the phone between your cheek and shoulder it may therefor turn on the display.
Is the display on during calls even if you hold it upright?

Probably what you'll have to do is, everytime you make the call or get a call, look at the call screen with the timer holding the phone as you would if you were texting or something and turn the screen off by hitting the power button once.

That keeps the screen from turning back on during the call if you move the phone away from your face.

It will not disconnect the call unless you have enabled the option to "Power button ends call" which can be found in Accessibility settings.

Thanks for your reply. If it would have been that simple : )

No sorry to say that it happens when I have my head and the phone straight. Also my dad has the same phone and the same problem.

I think it has to to with the proximity sensor. Is there a solutuon? Do I have to return the phone?

The proximity sensor is on the top on the left hand side of the Sony logo.

The front camera is on the other side of the Sony logo.

If you look very careful, you can see the proximity sensor.

You can test if the proximity sensor is working.

Make a test call, hold the phone in upright position and put your finger on the proximity sensor.

It should blank the screen.

When you put the phone on your right ear, the proximity sensor is probably on your cheek.

When you put the phone on your left ear, it could be that the proximity sensor is just outside the reach of your ear.
