DPI is what app developers should be checking. A high resolution is no guarantee of a physically large device. Bad coding.

Just bought this phone last week and I've had a few apps and games where text and buttons are too small. It seems like the apps think it's a tablet and do the graphics for one but it's too small on a phone screen. Is there any way around this?

I do not think that is the case, the buttons are just small.Only the app developers can change something.
