Screen doesn't go back on when moved away from ear

I'm always having to press the power button to get the screen back on. I like to have the power button set to end the call but sometimes I need to use my phone while in a call.

I bring the phone to my ear, screen goes off, take phone away from ear, screen remains off.

Never had this problem with any of my Samsungs. First Sony I buy and it seems the proximity sensor is blocked and there's no quick way to create a blocked contact list and masses of video playback problems in facebook (which I've spotted in other threads).

Not too impressed so far.

When is EE UK going to give us the latest firmware version. I'm getting really frustrated.
