The last 2 days my xperia mini (bought about 2 years ago), encounters problems with its touchscreen.

Firstly, it was the right side of the screen, that did not respond to my touch. This morning, while I was using (as much as I could since the right side did not respond) my phone it stopped responding at all to my touch. I closed it by removing the battery, for I could not even shut it down, restarted it... and the problem remains. This very moment, it's on the "type the pin number' section, but I cannot write any pin nor close the phone.

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

I suggest that you perform a software repair on your phone via PC Companion:

http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/pc-companion/

In PC Companion you press start on Support Zone > Start on Update the phone/tablet software > Repair phone/tablet (the blue clickable link in the message) > Follow these steps without having your device connected to the PC.

Follow the instruction that appears in the program and do not connect your device until this guide tells you how to connect it.

If the problem persist, you should visit nearest service center to have your phone examined. You can contact your local support team for information about nearest service center and/or how to proceed with this in the best possible way:
http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/contact-info/

I left the phone on a Sony service center, but they told me today that they cannot fix it. So what to do now? 2 years and a half after been bought the phone is useless and I need a new one...?

The touchscreen does not respond in certain areas and I cannot even tap the pin number to unlock the sim.....
