Is rooting to KITKAT a good solution?

Is rooting my SP to KITKAT a good or bad idea? I want to know what are the advantages and disadvantages of ROOTING a phone? What is so good or bad about Kit kat? I'm thinking of this if SONY decides not to roll the KITKAT update for SP. But still I'm afraid of doing this- not for the warranty- but for the performance of the phone. please I want a solution. Some said that SP will not get KITKAT, others said it will. We don't know for sure if this will see the light. Hop so.

I dont know anything about kitkat ,but rooting your sp will not lose your warranty ,because you can easily restore a factory FW with flashtool.

of course ,do not bring a rooted phone to the service center.

rooting your phone and using a custom rom :

for example you can set cpu/gpu speed ,freeze or remove almost any program with greenify or titanium backup(?).

but google for what rooting means.

of ,forgot : almost any custom(rooted) roms are free from bloatware and if i can say it ,optimized.

disadvantage : if you are too lame ,maybe u can kill your phone with overclock,etc settings.

Thank U so much for both of U. U were a great help for me. Now I'll wait for Sony for the KITKAT update. I'll wait 3-4 months, if we didn't get KITKAT I'll root my phone. Another thing is that I don't know how to root the phone? Can I root it myself? Or should I take it to repair centre and let them do the job? Is rooting a difficult thing to do? What are the dangers of rooting? Is it true that some phones were damaged badly while they were rooted, so U have to throw your phone in trash?

Hello everybody. I found that Mobogenie PC app has an option under the / My phone / menue which is Oneclick Root . Iss it true? Can I use it? Is it safe with no malware? Anybody who can help, please?

I installed mobogenie on my PC. But my antmalware says that it has many malwares and uses too much pc resources. This is the reason why I'm asking about it? Anyone who has any idea. Thanks.

Mobogenie is crap, full of malware and adware. Remove it and don't use it.

I suggest you google youtube videos on how to root a custom rom on your phone or else you wait for the official sony update if any.

For a friend of mine, wasn't.
SP has a good configuration, but rooting KitKat at beginning was good, but after some weeks the smartphone was becoming worst and full of lags. She's back to JellyBean 4.3 and for me that suits the best on SP.

Just went back from CM11 to Stock .205 (unroot), so I can compare.
Stock works much, much smoother then Cyanogen (CM ofter last few updates is total disaster, you have to wait even if you just play solitair), and it is only advantage.

1. CM has much more configuration possibilities. For example, you can change many settings of the screens, you can compact on the screen if you use Trebuchet launcher (for example 5x5). There is more widgets available to use

2. There is PA-GAPPS (google apps) instead of Sony bloatware. It means you have a possibility to choose more valuable applications, but Sonys look nicer and are more refined

3. Sony active sync has an issue (since December, what is annoing), and works fine with Exchange servers only. If you use Kerio for example you won't be able to see message body (you can check who is an originator, but you wil not be able to read what this person want to say)... Contacts sychnronization doesnt work, as well as a calendar issue makes multiplied entries... All these remain untouched since last year, when Sony support knows it very well about.

4. What is strange for me the most, CM sound is lauder. I was sure CM has too low volume, without e possibility to incerase

5. There is many interesting applications (ported from diferent handhelds) but many of them does not work at all, or have some issues cause limited advantage from using them

6. I don't know battery, as I installd .205 today in the morning. CM last for whole day of realy hard work.

7. RAM is worse utlized in CM as there is 250-400 free MB's avarage when stock runs up to 220 just after installation of the ROM.

8. CM on KK 4.4.4. has many valuable tools like night silence, possibility of restrict of application rights, and many others (but works slow...)

What is valuable, if you root you can use either stock ROM or others like Cyanogen. And just to say again, CM looks better.

Crazy, I hate android, you can't have every functionality...... I just started to thing about Nokia. It is the last moment, before M$ spoils this brand....
