Xperia Play charging problems

I used to have a Xperia x10 and it had broke three times in regards to charging (I plugged it in and it would only charge at random times) this happened three times the first time I bouight the phone to the carrier and they repaired it, the second time as it broke again within a month so it got replaced and the third time I decided to get it repaired and then sell it on mazuma. In replacement I naivley bought anohter Sony ericsson thinking that it would not be a reoccuring problem but now I have the same problem with the Xperia play. It's not the battery, I've tried another battery, It's not the wire I have a close friend who is an electrician who checked out the face plate and the wire. Any suggestions? 😕

Sounds strange. You sure it's not the cable/charger? Are you using a new one that came with Xperia Play?

Have you tried to connect the cable (usb part) to a computer?

Yeah it's annoyingly strange. I've kept my Xperia play on charge with the products I've got to make sure.

Your using the usb cable you got with the xperia play yeh?

The one i am using is the EC700 usb cable , it says it on the sticker on the cable, it works on both my pc charging is fine and if i plug the cable in my socket power adaptor charger.

If it only charges at certain points the very first thing i would ever do is replace the cable, have you ever tried using a differant cable?

If you have tried that and it's still the same problem then yes it probably is the phone, but always try a differant cable first.

Also have you tried charging it just connecting it to a PC? Cause it's possible it could be the adaptor then.

Yeah i've tried it with both of the cables that came in the box with the xperia Play and the cable I got with my old X10 also tried it with a blackberry charger the all don't work at random times.

And tried connecting it to the PC it seems to be a little more stable but I just got back from a night out in which I left my phone to charge and it was on 0%.

If you've tried using differant cables and the problem still occurs with just using the cable charging it on the PC then yes the only other thing that could be the problem is the phone.

Also i dunno if this is an issue but on my phone sometimes the cable hangs out a little bit and you need to like, click in the cable into the phone , but yeh if it's still happening on the pc charging usb cable then take phone back.

It's weird it seems to be an on off thing shall I still follow through and get it replaced or risk it?...

If you have tried with other USB cables and the phone still does not charge, I would suggest that you contact your retailer or local support team.

it's easier to get faster answers and/or more participation on a new thread

now, you can NEVER over charge your battery, UNLESS you install a custom ROM, so once it gets to 100% it will stop charging

NOT TRUE!!!!!!!!! I have overcharged my r800x, and the battery has gotten obviously worse.

also I can tell by an app battery graph and when it reaches 100, it stays 100

I have had the same problem with my xperia play i switched it off device then tricked the system by turning on while usb plugged in the whole time hope this helps
