In this case it would be worth trying a software repair to at least rule out a software problem:

1. Download the PC Companion software from http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/
and install it on your PC.
2. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
3. Phone Software Update.
4. Start.
5. Repair Phone
6. Continue
7. Accept data removal
8. Next
9. Wait for prepare
10. Select Phone
11. Follow the connection steps

I'm having same issue on AT&T network. I did a factory reset, no luck. They swapped out SIM card, no luck. I have 2 bars sometimes, no bars sometimes, 3 bars sometimes. When I go to make a call, the phone says "no service" and the call won't go through. I am without a phone now, very frustrating!!!!

I compared my Z2 signal strength with another at my operators (Telenor Sweden) store. My phone had much lower signal strength than the phone from the store using the exakt same network and cell. Clearly a hardware issue.

Hi, did you check as Martin27 suggested the dBm & asu....was this two Z2s that you compared?

Yes, yes and yes of couse!

I got like -100 dBm and the other Z2 got like -70 dBm. Only using WCDMA though! LTE is fine! I can use the Internet but I can hardly make any phone call.
