You can try to go to Settings/All/ Look for Camera, Cameras, Album, and Movies and for each press on Clear data button. After you do that try to take a picture to see if the problem goes away.

Are you saving Camera pictures/ videos to SD card or internal memory?

Hi first post, just got a Z1 and loving it but I am having trouble viewing photos and videos. When taking a photo it shows it has taken on the camera screen but when you view in the album it is a black picture with a mountain on it.

Also when I take any video it shows the play symbol on the album page but when you press play it says "cannot play video" what am I doing wrong?

I wanted this phone for the good camera but at the minute i have to still use my xperia S. I need help as I am going on holiday and wanted the Z1.

Thanks

Stu

It says it is storing to the sd card, when you go to file commander you can see some of the thumbnails but when you click on them it shows that mountain symbol again.

I have just tried that and its still the same, could the camera settings be wrong or something?

Sorry about the late reply but not had time to sort anything.

After formatting the card it can't be read by the phone or the computer so I think it has been a crap card. I am going to try a 32gb card from a well known maker and see if that works. I did try another card 16gb which I had in a tablet and the phone wouldn't read that either.

I was just looking to see if there was any problems and came across this which sounds like the same problem, or am I wrong, sorry but I'm not that technically minded on these things.

I also saw there was a new update (kit kat 4.4.4) but it says my phone is up to date, do you have to wait until Sony sends it out?

http://www.xperiablog.net/2014/03/20/before-upgrading-to-kitkat-be-wary-of-sd-card-restrictions/

Cheers I will try a new card, and wait for the update. I was really looking forward to getting this phone but at the minute I'm still using my Xperia S. I have read that it also has problems when it goes in water which is another reason I went for the Sony. My S had 32gb built in and has been a great phone with no problems at all. I hope it gets better.

Just to finish this off the update came Android 4.4.4, installed this and it now seems to read the music files ok. I got a new 32gb Sd card and this seems to have fixed the photo problem so all looking good. I can assume the previous memory card must of been at fault. In the camera settings I have set it to save images straight to the sd card which it wouldnt do before the update.
