My xperia j has been randomly turning itself off but never turns back on. Over the last six months or so It has been to the repair center five times and is still turning off. Having read several posts it seems that it is a quality issue with the phone. There have been times when I have missed important calls because it has switched off without my knowledge. A phone that switches itself off is not fit for purpose. You may find you need to contact trading standards to get a satisfactory conclusion to the problem.

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

First of all I would suggest that you try to start your phone in safe mode to see if the phone behaves the same.

See the following link on how to boot your phone into safe mode:
http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/FAQ/How-to-boot-your-phone-into-safe-mode/m-p/348008#U348008

If the behavior remains in safe mode you can try the phone without SD card or SIM card.

If the problem persists I suggest that you repair the phone software using PC Companion:

http://www.sonymobile.com/update

In PC Companion, press start on Support Zone > Start on Update the phones software > Press the blue link that says "Repair phone".

Hi,

That sounds quite strange. Try to start your phone in safe mode to see if the behavior may be related to any 3rd party apps installed in your phone.

I've have no third party apps on the phone. You say it sounds strange, yet it seems quite a common issue. My question is what are Sony doing about it?

Sony Xperia J has only 512 MB of RAM memory. This restarting problem is caused by RAM occupation. Every update, google service or any other process like viber chats ocupate ram memory. In other words you need better phone:)
