Sony xperia sp flickering

Hi! I've just brought a sony xperia sp and I noticed that sometime the screen is flickering. Has anyone got the same issue? is there something wrong with my phone?

I suggest that you try to run a software reinstall using SUS.

If the problem still remains you should contact your local support team, to have the phone examined and fixed at an repair center.

I noticed this too. Turning off automatic screen brightness (which doesn't do much anyway) sorted the problem

Having the same problem. I have my phone now 12 days and I already performed 4 factory resets and the problem still hasn't gone. It occured about every 1,5 to 2 hours.

I checked the automatic screen brightness and as I thought I already set this off. So the solution provided by gadgetman doesn't seem to do the trick for me.

From time to time i'm experiencing also no possibility to do multitasking.

When using the original app 'Walkman' the music stops whenever I go to the homepage.

I too have this problem. disabling auto brightness feature solves the issue. waiting for a fix from Sony.

I've started to experience this issue of my screen flickering like there'. A glitch on the phone pls let me know if this is hardware or software problem.

I have had this same problem.
I got my phone back in July, on the second day my screen started to flicker. I took it back in, and they gave me a new one. Same thing happened, and I took it back in, they offered me a new one and I told them I wanted it to be sent away and fixed.
When it came back, the same thing happened, got it sent back again and the same thing occurred only took more than the second day to start flickering.

I have also since had the walkman crash while trying to do other things on the phone.
I was told after the second time that they never found anything wrong either times (sounded like the company implied I was making it up, like I wanted to keep sending my phone back to them and not having it for 1-2weeks..).
I didn't bother sending it back a third time but this problem frustrates me.
Someone find a fix please!!!!

for me the same. i have flickering screen. when i'm inside in ligth conditions with bulb light in the background, i have some flickering. i thought there used to be an option "back light" this seems to be gone

Hi everyoSony very happy to help all of you!!! I've got the same problem but I solve it completely. It's a software problem, not an hardware one, and it is cause by the bad Sony software that control the auto brightness of the screen, infact when it's appending, if you immediately cover the light sensors, it will stop. So THE DEFINITIVE SOLUTION IS:
1) DISABLE THE AUTO BRIGHTNESS IN THE DISPLAY SETTINGS
2) INSTALL AN APP From THE PLAY STORE CALLED 'LUX LITE DASH' , it's the free version with no ADs at all don't worry, and it is simply the most power and professional auto brightness app for every Android device, it doesn't require root and it will function in substitution to the base auto brightness software of the phone (this is true for every Android phone, not only our xperia sp) which I remember another time you have to switch off!!

This ffantastic app is a professional app for auto brightness control, I've using it since 3 month both on the first firmware of the xperia sp (with Android 4.1) and the latest one (Android 4.3) and the flickering problem is COMPLETELY DISAPPEAR, and most important the app can be completely customizable in terms of refreshing rate for auto calculating ambient luminosity, and I've always used the setting wich refresh a lot, so the brightness of the display responds immediately to any ambient light change, and I guaranteed you any battery problem at all (wich is always the best thing of our xperia sp) !!! Let me know if this guide was helpfull :))

didnt worked... as i said in other post its kernel problem as i have flickering in cwm or other recoveries when i use 4.3 kernel.. i feel stupid only by tried this :S

Have you tried enabling "Disable HW overlays" in developer options?

Hi morire, are you able to install it from another store? Like "aptoide" , which is a store you can download as an app simply searching it on the Web, the you download and install it, and then you search the app I said in it.

Hi ParaSense, sorry it didn't work for you, but I read your linked post and saw your YouTube video, I'm very sorry to tell you your flickering is completely different from mine, it seems your is only on the sides of the screen, and particularly on Grey colours, mine instead was a clear brightness flickering, wall all over the screen in a uniform way, and it starts only at certain degrees or other circumstances when the light sensor as a light reflect in it or something similar, infact the flickering for me stops immediately in the exact moment I put my finger over the light sensor.... Your flickerinf seems really different... So I'm really sorry for you but I can't be helpfull at all
