How to remove cache in Sony Ericsson J108i Cedar?

In my in Sony Ericsson J108i Cedar, I am unable to erase the Log In User IDs that I have used in web sites which I browse in this mobile.

Please help me. Thanks.

Thanks, Dr.Chris. But, in Sony Ericsson J108i Cedar after clicking Main menu and Internet icon you are taken to a green colour web selection page wherer there is no OPTIONS button. I also tried main menu-Settings-Connectivity-Internet Settings and thereafter no OPTIONS button. Please help. Thanks.

Yes, I have the same green coloured webpage on my W995 and the Options button should be the top-left soft button which is there whether you are just simply on that local web page, or actually browsing the web.

While I thank you, Dr.Chris, I would like to mention that I still need your help as no one else is answering my question here except you. Sorry for the trouble. In the green page, on top left, there is no soft button. Even after browsing FACEBOOK or GMAIL, I dont find that button on top left. It may be available in your W995. But where is that option for J108i? Please reply. Thanks.

Yes, Dr.Chris! Thanks for the PDF.

In the green page, if I click on the spanner icon, I get Lense-Pen-Star-Down Arrow.
If I click on the STAR, I get another menu:
EXIT BROWSER- LANDSCAPE-REFRESH-SEND LINK- ZOOM- FIND ON PAGE - SAVE PICTURE- MARK & COPY- HISTORY-SETTINGS.
If I click HISTORY, I get the names of the sites viewed with a TRASH BIN icon at the bottom left to delete the chosen Web Address.
If I click the SETTINGS menu it takes me to the Mobile Phone's Internet Settings area where there is a menu either to allow cookies or not.
But where is the CLEAR CACHE menu option..?
Kindly guide me.

Clearly, the web tool on your browser is entirely different to the one on my phone.I can only suggest you go through all these options and look for any tabs (by clicking right/left) in the sub-menus, that allow you to clear the cache and/or passwords.

Thanks for suggesting to click the TAB. There are tabs in the Internet Settings. I clicked the TAB and found the CLEAR COOKIES - CLEAR CACHE - CLEAR PASSWORDS - CLEAR ALL HISTORY options. I cleared them all. But the EMail ID that I typed while logging on to my email account appears again if I type again just the first two letters of that ID. That ID also appears while typing SMS as Word Suggestion. I found the WRITING SETTINGS while writing new text message for sending SMS. In this settings there are MY WORDS - NEXT WORD SUGG - WoRD SUGGESTIONS options. Under MY WORDS, there are the words which I entered using SPELL WORD and the ID under question is not found there. If I switch off the NEXT WORD SUGG and WoRD SUGGESTIONS, that ID does not appear. If I switch on again the NEXT WORD SUGG and WoRD SUGGESTIONS, that ID appears again. Will it be stored in MEMORY CARD? If so, is there an option to erase it without formatting the Memory Card. Dr. Chris, Kindly suggest.

It sounds like you've tried all options there is. I just had a quick chat with my 2nd line on this matter and we did some testing.

The phone will create a "my words" list for each input language so if you e.g. add a new word to this list when typing with the English input language it will be saved to the English My Words. If you at this point switch to a different language and check the My Words, you will not find this word here.

So, what I'm trying to say: Change input language (press and hold # key when typing) and check the My Words for each language to see if you can find it here. Do this even if you've never changed input language before. The phone might have saved this word to the wrong list or something. I have not heard about it doing so before but it's well worth a try.

Thanks, Markus. I tried tha available languages. But only when I type choosing English, that ID is displayed in Word Options List. I wonder, how the ID which I typed in Email Log In area got clubbed with WORD SUGGESTIONS and still not being displayed in the MY WORDS list? Expecting your reply.

Since it's shown only when you type with English language it should also be displayed at "My Words". Since it's not showing here I suspect that the T9 database might be corrupt it some way.

The next step in an attempt to fix this would be to perform a master reset or a software repair in PC Companion. Both will reset/wipe the phone memory and also reset the T9 database. I would suggest you try the repair option if possible. You need a PC with internet connection, your USB cable and the program PC Companion, http://www.sonyericsson.com/pccompanion.

Yes, it should be perfectly safe to use this program. It's made for normal users and should not require any special skills or advanced knowledge in any way. Just follow the given instructions and read the information and you should be fine.

Dear Markus,

I was about to either do a master reset or a software repair in PC Companion as per your suggestion.

Bur after a few days, I checked my mobile to see whether the problem exists and to my surprise it is gone.

I tested typing the first few letters of the Email ID in question in Email ID enterinmg text box as well as in SMS writing area using the built in "My Words".

I dont know how it got erased.

But, I am glad that my Cedar Mobile is free from that Cache or whatever you call it.

Now I know how it got erased.

Add some new words, in a language other than English, (with correct spelling) in chat, which are NOT in Dictionary, then they will replace the old words, which are stored somewhere in the mobile and are not available for the user.

Add some new URLs. They will replace the old URLs, which are stored somewhere in the mobile and are not available for the user.

There may be enough free space in the Phone as well as in the Memory Card. But, the storage place, whichever it is, which stores user’s new words or new URLs accepts only a certain number of words or URLs as far as this mobile is concerned. This solves the problem.
