Has anyone tried - and succeeded in connecting external memory to their Xperia S?

I tried, using a short micro usb to standard usb cable, and an SD memory card in a stick. I received a message telling me that there was too much power requirement for the external device, so I tried various, smaller SD cards. No joy at all.

What are other owners experiences? I like the idea of using small external memory for music, pictures etc.

Well, for some reason, when I tried 2 x memory sticks - one of 1gb, and another of 4gb, they both work!

How I can use them, I don't know. The sd card reader option still doesn't work, but today we made progress, so thank you Devilhopper!

I used ASTRO File Manager (free app) to read the stick, and will see how I can transfer files etc. to and from main phone memory tomorrow.

It may be possible to have a "clean" phone, with external memory used for different Android levels. If a total image could be taken of an existing phone - say, Gingerbread, before ICS was loaded, followed by a full format of the phone, this would give the user the opportunity to revert back to the old level, should they encounter problems. Problems could be fed back to Sony, and more refined versions of Android could be issued on that basis.

Battery life was not significantly increased.

I propose a user group to play with this potentially useful facility!!
