There's unfortunately no support for this in our phones. Not prior to ICS and not with ICS either.

Thanks for the reply. But why is it so in xperia phones? Proxy settings are compulsory for using wifi in most of the places like universities, companies etc. If possible please incorporate that in the software updates in the future.

you can find proxy settings for Wi-Fi, in the Wi-Fi Password input field scroll down you will find "show advanced options'' Check box, check it then proxy settings will appear

if your are already connected to the Wi-Fi press the connected Wi-Fi tab for 2 seconds and then choose modify network and do the same as previous

Under "show advanced options'', there are Proxy settings and IP settings.

Proxy settings --> choose manual, then a bunch of options.

But the HTTP proxy is used by the browser but may not be used by the other apps.

IP settings --> static or DHCP

default Android browser supports also the authenticated proxies, so when you will try to navigate to your favourite site, you will be prompted to enter User and Password.
