Windows Explorer not displaying all files for folder with a lot of files

Hello,

When I explore my phone on Windows using Windows Explorer, I don't have access to all my files when the folder contains a large number of files.

For example, I've a folder containing 1216 files (MP3s), and on Windows Explorer, I can only see 392 files.

For information, my Xperia S is running Android 4.0.4 update build 1252-0023_6.1.A.0.452, ETS Software Version 1249-6690_22.

I don't know if it's a known issue that is already taken in account for future updates, but just in case I wanted to report it to you.

Ok seems to be a common Android issue with MTP. I found the solution by installing SD Rescan app that rescan the internal memory for new files and update the index. After that I could have access to all my files at last. My files where added about 6 hours ago, and still they were not visible!!!

It's a pity that on a 4.0 version of an OS, that should so be mature and tested, this kind of tweaks are still required. I feel like being using a Windows cleaner tool or Linux. A smartphone should be usable by any joe user but Android doesn't seem totally polished yet for that.

Any good implemented system would have a process running in the background that monitor any file addition/modification to update the index each time a file is added/modified. Apparently Android does that only on system boot

It's poor that you have to install an app to have this functionality.

I've experienced the same problems, esp after doing a system back-up and then wanting to export the back-up to my PC....
