1st Backup everything

2nd you can NOT root the new update unless you change to an old kernel

3rd follow the steps bellow to flash your phone (remember I'm not responsible if anything happen to your phone and this "might" void your warranty)

Make sure you backup everything

Settings -> privacy -> Back up my data and Automatic restore should be selected

and also

SMS/MMS/Call Logs

Install "backup SMS+" to back up your SMS, MMS and Call Logs to your Gmail

press MENU button -> tap on Send Contacts -> select all -> send it to your email

You need to

download IO File Manager

2nd method

download the apk on your computer, send it to yourself through email, make sure you send it to your Gmail

wait for the email, once you get the email, open it, and instead of downloading the attachment it will allow you to install it, voila, done

3rd Method

BOX and upload the apks from any computer

install the App on your phone -> open BOX -> tap on the app -> install it

4th Method by far the easiest

How to create a backup of your original firmware

you must have SUS
run SUS and repair your phone
go to C:\Program Files\Sony Ericcson\Update Service\db\13740270\blob_fs\
Copy the 2 largest files you'll find there to C:\Flashtool\anynameyoulabeled it as
Run FlashTool
Click Advanced > Decrypt Files
Source folder : C:\Flashtool\anynameyoulabeled it as
From Files, select all (Click & Ctrl + A) and click -> to move the 2 files to Files to convert
Click OK
Wait patiently till it finishes...
From Folder list, select all (Click & Ctrl + A) and click -> to move the 2 files to Firmware content
If it is ICS, tick the Disable Final Verification Check
13) On Device write the model [ex. Xperia Neo V (MT11i)], on Version write the firmware version and/or the Android version [ex. 4.1.A.0.562 (ICS_4.0.3)], on Branding write the region and your name if you wish.
Click OK
On Device Selection choose the device it is for (ex. MT11i)
Wait very patiently...
When it finishes the .ftf file is located on C:\Flashtool\firmwares

Hi Uli, I've done above steps but it sort of hangs after flash complete and says that it will now reboot. i waited for almost an hour but nothing changes. I unplugged my device and still find that my X-S is still at 2.3.7. Done it twice but still the same thing happened.

I'm currently on the .67 UK generic build ("up to date" :smileylaugh:) -

Would it be okay to flash this .67 Sweden generic build -

Also - is it okay to go ahead and flash without rooting just using the method in your thread?

I just went ahead and did this and I'm now running .75 Sweden generic :smileygrin:

The download was labeled as 1257-6919 (which is the code for Sweden generic) but is actually 1257-6919_R7E - does anybody know what this customization could relate to?
