No sound from LG SH4 sound bar connected via HDMI (ARC)

Hi,

Can someone maybe tell me where i'm going wrong?

I have a Sony Bravia KD 49X8309 tv and bought an LG SH4 sooundbar for it yesterday.

I've connected the two together using an HDMI lead from the tv's HDMI (ARC) port to the same port on the sound bar.

I can't seem to find any setting on the tv to get any sound out of the sound bar.

Also, i haved the two connected using an optical lead which works fine.

I'm expecting the solution to be rather simple but it has me beaten.

It should not be possible Connect both ottica and arc: Please check in the soundbar setting whether arc should be enabled and obviously set the tv to external speaker.

thanks for your reply. still can't get the HDMI to work.

i noticed, though,that when i looked at my Bravia Sync settings it was showing my soundbar as HDMI 1. It is definitely plugged into HDMI 4. Is my tv seeing something that it shouldn't?

This has got me stumped.

I'm quite happy with the sound from the digital lead but i'd like to be able to see what the HDMI sound is like.
