topic Bravia TV won’t turn on/reboot in Android TV

Model KD49XE9005

Ongoing problem where tv won’t switch on and now won’t reboot. If I unplug everything and wait it will eventually turn on but this can take hours. After exhausting other options I’ve tried a factory reset, first via the menu options - this failed when it tried to reboot (same problem as above that it went off and wouldn’t turn back on) - and secondly by holding down appropriate buttons (power & volume down) when plugging back in. All I get (when it works at all) is the screen saying SONY and a green light at the bottom, consistent with attempting factory reset I believe. It won’t go past that screen no matter how long I leave it. Without the factory reset attempt I get the same screen with just a white light but either way it goes no further. It’s out of warranty. Can it be fixed or is it for the scrap heap?

As it is a model from 2017/18 it would be hardly worth getting repaired, probably cost as much as buying a new TV.

I'd buy a new telly.
