Hi all

Just bought the Sony Bravia 50X85 Tv and we have a Dennon sound bar. It keeps switching from audio speakers to tv speakers. The sound bar is plugged in the HDMI 3 Arc and sync is turned on.

Any ideas?

That’s an eARC capable TV.

So we need to know exactly what model of Denon soundbar you have, and exactly what the spec of the HDMI cable connecting it to the TV is.

As this may need to be a ‘High Speed with Ethernet’ HDMI cable, something the one you are using may or may not be.

Hi, thanks for your reply. The sound bar is Denon DHT-S316 and I think it’s just a normal HDMI cable, it came with the sound bar. I will purchase a cable you suggested and will try that.

Look on the existing cable. The specification should be printed somewhere along its length, and if it’s already the right sort, will save you buying one.

But anyway, that soundbar is ARC, not eARC, so doesn’t use the Ethernet strand.

We changed the cable but it’s still doing it. I’ve tried turning the sync off but then all I get is communication error, so had to turn it back on.

Let's try the basics first:

-Unplug the TV from the mains for two minutes, and disconnect any external device, including the aerial, if you have one.
