Soundbar works when watching sky but not when watching tv channels

Kit is sony tv kd43xh8505 and sony sound bar ht-x8500 connected via "eARC". Sound OK with sky connected to TV via "hdmi. No sound when watching TV channels.

Any suggestions gratefully received. Thanks

Please set eARC to ARC and check if it's working then.

How does one do this.

I have also reverted to the optical connection with no change to problem.

You can toggle the ARC mode under Settings - Display & Sound - eARC Mode.
