Are Sony planning to patch Android TV for Krack?

I understand Android 6 is severly affected by Krack and my KDL-49X8307 is based on Android 6.

Most manufacturers are (or have already) patched their operating systems but Sony is missing from the list recently published by zdnet.

So are Sony going to patch Android TV?

As I'm running a couple Sony TVs & a Sony bluray player connected via Wifi I asked Sony Europe if they will offer firmware updates against KRaCK.

They quickly replied:
- No updates planned
- KRaCK isn't critical for private users
- KRaCK has to be fixed via router firmware
- Clients are not affected by KRaCK

Basically all incorrect as far as I understand KRaCK.

I now use these Sony devices via ethernet with Wifi switched off.
Due to the Sony's ignorance to customer security I'll try to avoid Sony wifi products in the future.

vielen Dank, für Ihre Anfrage beim SONY Support.
Für Sony Geräte wird kein Update bereitgestellt werden, um die Schwachstelle bei WPA2 zu schließen.
Diese Sicherheitslücke ist nicht kritisch für Privatanwender.
Außerdem muss die Sicherheitslücke bei Router geschlossen werden. Fernseher und andere Client Geräte sind hier nicht betroffen, weil der Router die zentrale Instanz ist beim Verbindungsaufbau.
In diesem Fall wenden Sie sich bitte direkt an Ihren Router Hersteller.
Hinweis:
Die WPA2 Sicherheitslücke ist für Privatanwender überhaupt nicht als kritisch eingestuft. Für Firmennetzwerke ist das Problem allerdings wesentlich kritischer.
Sie können dazu weitere Informationen mithilfe von Onlinesuchmaschinen ausfindig machen.
Wir danken für Ihr Verständnis, auch wenn Sie sicherlich eine andere Antwort erwartet haben und wir in diesem Fall zu keiner anderen Lösung gekommen sind.
